Under the Microscope

This week, it finally hit the 100s outside here, so we have done a lot of playing inside instead.  Today we found Garrett's microscope that we haven't used since he got it at Christmas.  He had a "great idea" that we all go for a bike ride or a walk to the park to find things to look at under his microscope.  So I got us all some water and bags to put our findings in, and we headed to the park.  We made it about a block down the road before  the boys decided it was too hot! (Mom decided that before the walk started, but just humored them for entertainments sake.)

These are the items we came up with, a live and dead oak leaf, a hibiscus flower, a feather, a mushroom, a strand of mom's hair, and a daisy.  His little microscope was actually really good.  You could see the cells in the leaves and the hibiscus really well.  The others needed to be sliced a little thinner, and by the time we got around to the feather, the attention span had lapsed and they were off to play batman.
