Today was Garrett's first soccer game. Up until this year Garrett has always told us that he wasn't going to play sports, he was going to watch Tripp play, so when he said he wanted to play we signed up. He was able to be on the same team as his friend Hudson. His team, the Little Bears, was matched up against the Little Rams. It was fun to watch them all run around on the field. Luckily the coaches are able to be on the field and help them learn. Cody and I are trying to learn just as much as Garrett is.
I was so proud of him! I expected him to kind of stay in the back, but instead he was very aggressive. Every time the ball was in play, he was one of the first to try and get in there. Cody even had to tell him at one point to not push his team mates over just to get to the ball. Cody called the game a tie. Garrett scored the first goal for our team, then they scored two, and we scored one more (but in their goal.) Garrett really had a great time. At the end of the game the coach hands out stars to all the kids. Everyone gets a star for coming to practice, and then an award for how they played in the game. Garrett received the grey star for best offensive player. Great way to start.
Sweet friends, having a hard time looking at the camera.
Waiting to run in before the game.
Running in (Garrett is hidden behind the little boy that lead them in. Garrett will get to lead them in in two weeks.)
Now we are listening
Cheering for their brothers
I love look on his face. Nearly all my photos have him with this snarl on his face.
Tripp's hair and Garrett trying to turn the ball towards the goal.
Kicking the ball in.
I love that all the kids are pointing to the right goal. That is a hard concept to learn.
Telling the other team good game.
Getting their awards and stickers.
