He is Risen!

He has risen indeed!

This weekend was Easter. We decorated eggs Saturday. We did a few traditional eggs, with dye, stickers, and the plastic sleeves, and we also did dinosaur eggs. The boys loved doing the eggs. Cody was in the background cleaning up all the spilled dye. They especially loved the dino eggs, until I told them it was what we were eating for breakfast. Tripp was brave and went first, took a big ole bite, and crinkled his nose and said, “Yucky!”

Naturally, Garrett isn’t going to take a bite after that. So after much encouragement (the placement of the spanking spoon to my hand) he decided to try it, took a microscopic nibble, and came to the same conclusion of his brother.

Garrett preferred the "plop" method, as opposed to the "gently place" method.

Easter Baskets

This year Garrett learned the truth about the Easter Bunny, he isn't real.  Sorry to break the news to any of you.  He actually found everything I had gotten for baskets this year, so I just told him.  I also asked him if there was a bunny in the story about Jesus, and he said no.  He decided that the Easter Bunny is made up by parents so they can feel like Santa Clause does at Christmas.  He doesn't know about that one yet.

We have gone to Easter services on Saturday night for the last few years. Usually we go to the service, and then serve at the next service. It works out really well for our family. Then on Sunday we have an Easter Celebration. This year we got up, cooked pancakes (Garrett cleaned his room, that he stated, “A tornado came in and dropped all my toys by my closet. It was so scary!”), hunted eggs, ate lunch, and napped. It was great.

We had to hunt eggs inside, not because we had gotten any rain, but because we forgot and left the sprinklers on and the grass was too wet. They still had fun looking for all the eggs.

Both boys opted to not have syrup, but to have some of their bunnies and other Easter candy instead.

Garrett picked out our Easter dinner this year. He wanted chicken legs. So I made fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. All delicious, if I do say so myself, Garrett didn’t think so. I don’t know what he had in mind with chicken legs, but he didn’t want bones in his chicken. Needless to say there were a few tears shed as he ate his chicken.

After naps, Gabby, Pud and Sarah came and ate dinner. Which was followed by ice cream sundaes! It was a great day, and a great celebration in honor of Christ and the sacrifice he made for us.
